Eurosporting Cup 1st Round  (u12 girls)

Collinstown 2 - Leixlip 5

In very wet conditions Leixlip’s girls pulled together & landed a fine victory. After going 1 down early the girls held their nerve & battled back into the game. Captain Clodagh McClean organised & worked at the back, Ellie Sheehan & Grace Kelly repelled attack after attack and gradually the balance of play shifted in Leixlip’s favour. 

The girls grew into the game & led 2-1 at half time. Edina Nallen commanded the midfield & switched with keeper Evie Stewart in the 2nd half who pressed play in the middle. From then there was no looking back, every girl harried & ran. Gwen Sullivan switched play and unlocked the Collinstown defense. Our flying fullbacks pushed on: in all Molly Crehan got a hat-trick from the left side & Cara Moriarty got 2 from the right. All the while Phoebe Murray got in behind and was unlucky not to score.

Team regular Evelyn Sullivan was unavailable to play but watched excellent performances across the pitch, particularly from girls who just joined the club since the summer.
